Making 2021 EU Labelling Simple for Tyre Retailers
New EU and UK laws are now in place.
How can you ensure that your business stays compliant when selling in the UK and EU?
The EU introduced a change to the current labelling scheme for tires for all EU countries and the UK on 1 May 2021. Also, the market is now closely monitored to ensure that the regulation is enforced throughout the European Union. As a tire retailer or distributor from 1 May 2021, you need to ensure that:
- At the point of sale, the newly designed 2021 EU or UK label for the tires is clearly visible. The product information sheet needs to be accessible (digitally) and provided in printed form upon request. Where the tire is not physically available in-store or where it is sold online or on a long-distance basis this information needs to be provided digitally.
- When you sell a tire that is part of a batch of one or more identical tires, the label and the product information sheet should be accessible (digitally) and provided upon request.
- In visual advertisements or other promotional material, the tire label information must be shown – digitally or in printed form – whenever a specific tire type is being promoted or displayed. In a list of products, the respective performance symbols and declared label classes/values alone are sufficient.
About 2021 Label information:
- Labels have 5 grades from A to E
- Consumers gain insight and awareness into the external noise levels of a tyre, the opportunity for fuel savings and also a tyre's performance in wet weather
- Pictograms highlight the tyres performance on snow and ice
