New partnership between DriveRight and autoaid

03. December 2014

  •     DriveRight takes over distribution of autoaid products in the UK and New Zealand
  •     autoaid offers internet-based car diagnostic software
  •     Solutions are valuable additions to the DriveRight portfolio

DriveRight, the leading independent supplier of wheel and tyre data, has closed a partnership with autoaid, a German supplier of internet-based vehicle diagnosis software. DriveRight will now distribute autoaid’s products in the UK and New Zealand and function as the local point of contact for autoaid’s solutions. DriveRight, headquartered in Cardiff, Wales, and founded in 2001, is the leading supplier of structured wheel and tyre data and has a comprehensive customer and user base.

autoaid, founded 2008 in Berlin, Germany, specialises in internet-based solutions for car diagnostic.  Its Internet Diagnosis+ (aID+) allows for an in-depth diagnosis of vehicles, all of which is based of up to date manufacturer information generated in real time via the web.  This enables updates to be considered immediately instead of monthly or quarterly time frames as common with other hard and software based solutions.  The Diagnosis System alD+ currently covers 28 vehicle brands and is already the standard diagnostic solution in vehicle service stations in numerous countries including Canada, Germany, Great Britain, and the US.  For next year, autoaid is planning the launch of Cloud Diagnosis+, using its already existing diagnostic software while also enabling wireless and platform independent vehicle diagnostics via web browsers.

“The solutions from autoaid offer distinct advantages over traditional vehicle diagnostic solutions”, says Richard Bailey, CEO and founder of DriveRight. “The internet-based approach ensures that all information is up to date.  This enables an accurate diagnosis and also reduces efforts, so that expensive installations or even acquiring extra hardware are avoided.  As the leading provider of real-time tyre, wheel and vehicle data, autoaid is an ideal partner for DriveRight, creating added value for our customers.  The autoaid products perfectly complement our own data.  Together we will build a strong partnership in order to support automotive companies as best as possible.”

“We are happy to have found a partner such as DriveRight, who shares our views that internet-based solutions are the future.  We enable automotive suppliers to provide their customers with fast, tailored and reliable solutions that are always up to date“, says Moritz Funk, managing director of autoaid.  “We will benefit from the strong market position DriveRight enjoys in the UK and New Zealand which will enable us to reach customers for whom our solutions offer a real added value, in a targeted manner. ”

About autoaid

Since September 2008, the company autoaid GmbH has been developing internet-based vehicle diagnostic software.  After almost four years of development, autoaid Internet Diagnosis+ has been launched in April 2013 and has become the standard diagnostic solution in numerous repair shops worldwide.  Since its successful establishment in the market, autoaid has been intensively working on extending brand coverage, as well as on optimizing diagnostics depth.  Currently, 28 different vehicle brands can be diagnosed.  For 2015, the focus will be on extending the autoaid product portfolio.  These two additional innovations are shortly being launched: autoaid Cloud Diagnosis+, a platform independent vehicle diagnosis web browser tool and autoaid Telematics+, a mobile diagnostic solution which monitors the vehicle’s status while driving.

New at DriveRight: TPMS Data with CAD Analysis and AAIA based

23. October 2014

  •     TPMS data has expanded to include CAD drawings in order to allow compatibility checks for sensors
  •     DriveRight expands webservices offerings to AAIA based data
  •     Number plate search now extended to Ireland

DriveRight, the leading independent supplier of international wheel and tyre data, is further expanding its services. A key focus is on the integration of TPMS data into DriveRight’s vehicle database. After this integration was first presented in May, webservices were added in August, DriveRight is now integrating CAD analyses for TPMS sensors which allow wheel manufacturers to check compatibility of wheels and sensors. DriveRight is also continuing its webservices portfolio which allows customers to integrate DriveRight data easily into their own services. As the latest addition to these offerings, DriveRight now provides tyre and wheel data based on the AAIA standard widely used in the United States and Canada as API webservices.

TPMS data now with CAD analyses

As part of EU directive 661/2009 all newly registered cars and RVs must include a TPMS. In May of this year, DriveRight announced the integration of TPMS data into its vehicle database.

In August a webservice was added to allow easy and effortless integration of the data into the user’s existing services. DriveRight is now integrating CAD drawings of OE and aftermarket tyre pressure measuring sensors of various manufacturers into its database. Currently, DriveRight has access to data by Alligator, Schrader, HUF and VDO/Continental. On the basis of this data, DriveRight will soon offer a special service for wheel manufacturers: where they check whether various TPMS sensors can be used for a wheel by way of CAD analysis in order to explore the sensor’s suitability for use on original or aftermarket wheels. With this, DriveRight offers a central and manufacturer-independent checking option which relieves the work load of wheel manufacturers which would otherwise be caused by obtaining data from each TPMS manufacturer or finding different ways to conduct compatibility checks of wheels and sensors.

New webservices on the basis of the AAIA standard

DriveRight is now offering the option to obtain vehicle information with the respective OE tyre and wheel information based on the AAIA standard widely used in the United States and Canada as API webservices. The Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA) is an organization that sets and maintains high standards for vehicle data. Until now, DriveRight provided this as raw data which made implementation for smaller companies difficult. The new API webservices allows an easy integration of the search functionality based on the AAIA standard into the user’s website. There the vehicle search can for example, be started with the year of manufacture, as is customary with the AAIA standard, before limiting the search via manufacturer, model, vehicle construction and submodel leading to the relevant OE tyre and wheel information or even matching wheels and tyres for the vehicle. The webservices now enable all providers to integrate the AAIA data into their own services with ease.

 VRM-Search now available in Ireland

DriveRight now has a number plate searches for Eire available. This means that DriveRight is able to offer this service in all European countries where this type of query is technically possible. Prior to Ireland, DriveRight had added France and Denmark to the list of countries in which this service can be obtained. The number plate search allows online shop providers in Europe to accelerate and simplify their customers’ search for the right products. The vehicle registration plate search is exclusively available as a webservice and therefore enables users to easily integrate it into their own online offerings.  Development is underway for this search functionality to be available in New Zealand too.

DriveRight international provider of vehicle, wheel and tyre database expands its offerings

26. August 2014

  •     New Online Service for TPMS Data
  •     Parts Catalogue production
  •     Number Plate Search now available for Denmark and France

DriveRight, the leading independent supplier of international vehicle, wheel and tyre data, presents a number of add-ons to its services: A newly developed webservice allows users to quickly and easily receive corresponding OE TPMS data for a searched vehicle. DriveRight and its partner Lockside Software have also developed a new full service for the creation of printed catalogues: DriveRight and Lockside take control of the creation of catalogues, working with Lockside’s software solution Catalog’nTime. In addition, DriveRight now offers number plate (VRM) searches for France and Denmark.

Get TPMS Data Online

DriveRight has integrated OE TPMS data (tyre pressure monitoring systems) to its vehicle database. Now, DriveRight introduces a new add-on to access this information. This dedicated webservice makes it possible to search for the corresponding data for a vehicle in the most efficient way. This allows customers that are already working with DriveRight’s vehicle database to quickly integrate TPMS data, with all the vehicle identifiers that are necessary for the query already available.

Partnership with Lockside Software: Full Service to Create Print Catalogues

The long-lasting partnership with Lockside Software now offers a new full creation service for the production of print catalogues: Lockside and DriveRight take care of each necessary step to create a printed catalogue, from the design of templates based on customers’ needs and polishing of product data to providing the final pre-press file of the catalogue to the customer. “Even in our digital world today, printed catalogues are still an important tool for any sales team. With our new service for producing printed catalogues, we are supporting our aftermarket customers in every way”, explains Richard Bailey, Director of DriveRight. The new full service is based on Catalog’nTime, a software solution developed by Lockside that is designed for the production of catalogues of 50 pages or more. The tool works in conjunction with Quark Xpress and Adobe InDesign to dramatically decrease production time. It is a multi-user system that holds hundreds of thousands of products, collates them for a catalogue and builds the pages according to configurable style templates. Number plate search in France and Denmark

DriveRight’s recently presented beta version of number plate search in France is now available as an API webservice that can be implemented in the customer’s own website. To suit French privacy laws, DriveRight provides a B2B and a B2C version. For the B2C it is necessary to also type in the first three letters of the vehicle owner’s surname. DriveRight now offers a second solution for France to do a quick vehicle search, in addition to the already existing search with the vehicle ID “D.2.1” from the “Carte Grise”. DriveRight also announces today that they have launched a number plate search for Denmark and thus not only fill the last gap in offering VRM searches in all Scandinavian countries, it also means that they are now been able to offer number plate searches for all European countries where such a type of search is technically possible. This gives operators of online shops across Europe the opportunity to accelerate and simplify their customers’ search for the right product, increasing customer satisfaction and ultimately revenue.

DriveRight exhibiting at REIFEN 2014: New developments include a wheel database

20. May 2014

• TPMS sensors in the vehicle database
• TyreFit 4.0: Extensive tyre and wheel product database
• French licence plate searchy

DriveRight, the leading independent supplier of wheel and tyre data, presents a series of product innovations and further developments of their tools at the international tyre show REIFEN 2014 in Essen, Germany. Among these is a new wheel database that meets international and German data standards, a new version of the TyreFit software which includes a French licence plate search as well as a solution for the shock absorber manufacturer Monroe.

Visit DriveRight at their booth in Hall 4.0 / 4B19 and learn more about the following topics.

announced in TyrePress

New international wheels database

Just in time for the top international event of the tyre industry REIFEN 2014, DriveRight presents their newly-developed wheel database that supports clients wanting to do international business.  DriveRight’s data includes a variety of global wheel manufacturers and meets the requirements of a wide range of countries.  (For example, they contain the vehicle usage lists for different wheels).  The wheel data is not only connected to the global vehicle database of DriveRight, but it also meets the specific requirements and strict standards of the German market, where vehicles are assigned to the wheels which are mentioned in the TUV certificates and the German “ABE” (Allgemeine Betriebserlaubnis = general operating licence). In addition to the product data and vehicle assignments, the wheel database also covers images of the wheels and, if available, the TUV certificate and “ABE”.

“With our new wheel database, we enable our customers to offer the same wheels for various markets, reflecting their specific requirements such as for the English or French market.  At the same time this information is available for Germany with its unique legislation. In all cases, the wheels are assigned only to the vehicles for the market where a corresponding approval has been given. This means that our customers are always on the safe side while they market their products easily and efficiently on an international scale,” says Richard Bailey, CEO of DriveRight.

New in the database: Tyre pressure monitoring sensors (TPMS)

DriveRight has now included the most common TPMS Sensors in their vehicle database. Thus, the user can very easily and straightforwardly access this data and integrate it into their existing systems. The access to the TPMS data is available as a new separate service, which is offered in addition to the existing car database access.  DriveRight also integrates the TPMS information of the wheel manufacturer into their database (if available) in order to show customers which TPMS sensors are compatible with which vehicles or where separate sensors need to be acquired so that the wheels may be used on a specific vehicle.

New version of TyreFit

DriveRight also announces the redevelopment of its existing tool, TyreFit, at the tyre show in Essen. The new version, TyreFit 4.0 comes with many new features for example, all the tyre product data that was available in a separate tool, EC1222.com, has now been integrated into TyreFit. The TyreFit user can now search directly in DriveRight’s extensive tyre product database for labelling information. In addition to product data, such as EAN code and tyre size, this also includes images of the tyres and tyre label information.
The TPMS data and the new wheels database have also been integrated into TyreFit. The search for wheel data, showing the respective images of the wheels and other information including manufacturer, brand, model and size can be executed in different ways.
DriveRight has bundled all the important information relating to tyres and wheels into one tool to make it possible for its customers to access a central place for all the necessary data required for the sale of tyres and wheels.

Licence plate search in France

As for some other countries, DriveRight confirms they will also be offering a comprehensive license plate search for France.  The vehicle registration mark (VRM) search is available in the UK, the Netherlands, Sweden and some other countries in which licence plates are usually permanently assigned to a particular vehicle. The licence plate search works in addition to the already existing French search service (which uses the vehicle ID “D.2.1” from the “Carte Grise”). This new feature of the licence plate search benefits operators of online shops in France with the opportunity to accelerate and simplify their customers’ search for the correct product since the vehicle is identified by only the input of one variable, the registration plate.  This increases the end users satisfaction and thus revenue increases for the seller.

New development for Monroe shock absorbers

Together with his partner the software maker Lockside, DriveRight has now developed an automotive solution for Lockside’s products “Geni-Sys”* and “Catalog’n time”** that is now being used by the shock absorber manufacturer Monroe in the Australian market. For this purpose, the products of Monroe have been integrated into the product management tool “Geni – Sys” which enables Monroe to adapt not only the products in terms of descriptions or prices but also the allocation of its complete product portfolio in different online channels (such as their own website/online shop, marketplaces such as Amazon or eBay, etc.).
In addition, this solution allows Monroe to use the Lockside’s tool “Catalog’n time” to create product catalogues with more than 300 pages in little time.

* The software solution Geni-Sys makes it easy to keep control of product information and target specific groups and markets. Geni-Sys helps maintaining consistency between web, print and other channels. Running in a cloud environment means that organisations can gain access to and maintain a central repository of product content from anywhere in the world. The system is user configurable so user fields can be easily added without restriction, and it uses proprietary technology for handling large numbers of attributes. It also works seamlessly together with Catalog’nTime, which comfortably converts product data into catalogues and other print related products. For further details go to: www.geni-sys.net

** The solution Catalog’nTime of Lockside Software is designed for the production of catalogues of 300 pages or more. The tool works in conjunction with Quark Xpress and Adobe InDesign to dramatically decrease the production time – for many catalogues it will take hours instead of days or weeks. It is a multi-user system that holds hundreds of thousands of products, collates them for a catalogue and builds the pages according to configurable style templates. DriveRight Supports Tyre Awareness Week with Online Tyre PressureTool

07. April 2014

DriveRight, the leading independent supplier of wheel and tyre specific data, supports the inaugural New Zealand Tyre Awareness Week which starts today.  Together with government departments, motoring advocacy groups, industry leaders and tyre specialists such as Dunlop and Goodyear, DriveRight aims at raising awareness about the importance of tyres for driving safety and energy efficiency. According to a survey, conducted by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority of New Zealand (EECA), about 40 percent of drivers check their tyre pressure only once a month. That is just the recommended minimum, with 25 percent of drivers stating that they check their tyre pressure only every six months. To help find out a vehicles correct tyre pressure, DriveRight and EECA developed a solution that allows Kiwi drivers to easily check the correct tyre pressure for their vehicle online. By cross-referencing the New Zealand Transport Authority vehicle registration database, with DriveRight’s own database of OE and optional tyre sizes and legally permitted tyre pressures, drivers can conveniently check the tyre size and pressure for their vehicles by simply typing in their license plate number on the website.

The online tool can be found here: http:/www.energywise.govt.nz/tools/tyre-pressure “Tyres are the only point of contact between a car and the road, and yet their importance to a car’s safety and fuel economy is easily overlooked”, explains the campaign website. The right tyre pressure leads to less tyre wear, more security and optimized energy efficiency. “We support ‘Tyre Awareness Week’, because the importance of tyres and wheels for a driver’s safety cannot be rated highly enough. We are happy to help raising awareness among the drivers of New Zealand to look after their tyres to drive safer and more energy-efficiently”, says Richard Bailey, Director of DriveRight. More information about the tyre awareness week and what drivers should be doing when it comes to their tyres can be found on the website: http:/tyresafety.org.nz April 8th 2014 – Autotalk refer to our Press Releases, see here.

  •     Geni-Sys: Easy and cost-effective central management of different sales channels
  •     Catalog’nTime: Turn data into paper catalogues at fraction of the cost of manual production

DriveRight, the leading independent supplier of wheel and tyre specific data, now has a partnership with Lockside Software. The global collaboration will make it easier, for the automotive industry and its aftermarket, to manage data to drive sales and customer satisfaction across multiple channels from one central place. Together they provide integrated solutions to turn raw data into appealing product presentations, in the most cost and time efficient way: Geni-Sys is Lockside’s solution to effectively manage and control multiple sales channels from just one back-end. “Lockside sees important opportunities with organisations that want to share data but are hampered by security concerns and the silo approach of legacy systems. Yet every second secure data feeds pump gigabytes of data to Google, Amazon and eBay, to name a few. Lockside believes that the co-operation with DriveRight will bring these kinds of cloud solutions to the automotive industry. As an industrial strength product information management system, Geni-Sys can greatly benefit any multi-channel organisation whether they have thousands, or millions of products. Its ability to handle huge amounts of product-related data efficiently, enables companies to achieve significant savings in data management and maintenance costs, catalogue creation costs and translation costs”, says Peter Ritchie, Director of Lockside Software.

Fluid Check-up Made Easy With DropTest

12. December 2013

  •     Fluid RX: Checks brake, power steering, gear, transmission and hydraulic fluids
  •     MOTORcheckUP: A single drop delivers quick and easy analysis of engine oil quality, without the need to be an expert
  •     Both are available exclusively from DriveRight, purchased online at www.thedroptest.co.uk

New vehicle fluid testing kits now available in the UK, New Zealand and Australia: DropTest was designed to help repairers, service stations and vehicle owners analyse the ‘health’ of a vehicles fluids and lubricants. DropTest offers two solutions, each suitable for the high-quality requirements of the automotive service industry, yet easy enough for almost any vehicle owner to use, without the need for time consuming or expensive analysis.

1. Fluid RX is a multi-fluid diagnostic kit suitable for cars, trucks, marine, forklifts, plant and agricultural machines and vehicles.
2. MOTORcheckUP, is a cost-effective oil test suitable for both petrol and diesel engines.

Avoid Potential Damage, or Premature Fluid Changes

Since varying conditions and driving styles will cause vehicle fluids to degrade at different rates, vehicle fluids are often not changed at the correct time. As a result, fluids are wasted if changed prematurely or unnecessary damage to the vehicle may occur if fluids are changed too late. With the Fluid RX and MOTORcheckUP testing kits, it is easy to determine when a fluid has reached its functional limit, reducing operating costs and unnecessary downtime.

Fluid RX

  •     Quick and easy analysis of a vehicle’s fluids and lubricants.
  •     The Fluid RX multi-fluid kit includes 70 patented Radial Planar Chromatography diagnostic tests for:
  •     brake, power steering, transmission, gear and oil with ISO laboratory comparison charts and 70 ‘all-in-one’ antifreeze/coolant dip-strip tests.
  •     The Fluid RX multi-fluid test kit is available for £74.99
  •     The 70 all-in-one automotive antifreeze/coolant diagnostic test kit can be purchased separately for £18.99.

MOTORcheckUP

  •     Enables anyone to check on an engine with just one drop of oil.
  •     Uses a patented chromatographic process to separate and identify the contents of the oil, indicating if there are unusually high levels of grime, moisture or fuel in the oil.
  •     A MOTORcheckUP single test with one test card and evaluation sheet, is available for £9.99.
  •     A MOTORcheckUP six-pack with six test fields on one sheet is available for £29.99.

Tyre image demand increasing

13. December 2012

With EC1222/2009 legislation now mandatory requiring labels to be displayed at all point of sale, and within online webshops, tyre distributors have solutions in place, and DriveRight has increasing demand for added value products from the EC1222.com labelling solution.

EC1222.com offers a comprehensive list of manufacturer label data deployed using an API and as demand has increased, distributors subscribing to the EC1222.com website are taking advantage of the tyre image library to display images of tyres within websites.

DriveRight’s European Sales Manager, Jeremy Wood explains, “In terms of tyre images the objective of EC1222.com is to provide these for the prominently requested products. We targeted images for the premium brand tyre manufacturers. The tyre images in our library are aligned with current product available from manufacturers with our focus being on passenger vehicle and light commercial.

“Naturally, as some distributors will have legacy product in stock manufactured before 1st June 2012, which do not have to comply with the legislation, we turned our attention to the supply of images that did have the rolling resistance, wet grip and noise ratings available.

“As a result, we have found there is also a demand from distributors looking for an independent source of tyre images outside the requirements of EC1222. Our API is structured to allow us to offer a live feed of images to customers for any web-based tyre search engine.

“After some tentative research we found there was interest in a live feed of tyre images to complement existing web interfaces. We provide the supplier code in the API response, so linking can be achieved at this level.

“The EC1222.com solution is a good one-stop solution for any tyre distributor.”

Latest product – Tyre Fitment Finder, a marketing “must have” solution

10. December 2012

DriveRight, an independent supplier of wheel and tyre fitment data have added a new product – “Tyre Fitment Finder” to our expanding portfolio of products, designed to reduce advertising wastage as an additional marketing solution for any distributor or manufacturer of tyres.

With a database of over 37,500 individual vehicle fitments DriveRight has focused on refining delivery methods to a global customer base since 2001.

The latest addition is a new function added to the reknowned ‘TyreFit’ online tyre guide used as a point of sale fitment look-up for sales staff.

The Tyre Fitment Finder was created with the objective to provide tyre distributors with a method to find the applicable vehicles that fit a specific tyre, by inputting tyre size, and optional load and speed values.

DriveRight’s European Sales Manager Jeremy Wood says, “This function is a very powerful tool allowing a user to proactively target specific vehicle owners with a list of tyres suitable for their vehicle. “The application will provide some focused direction for retailers wanting to reduce redundant or inflated inventory levels. The user only needs to identify a range of tyres they wish to actively market and input this into the TyreFit V3.0 search engine to return a list of vehicles that will fit the tyre.

“Outlets who keep client details on record can promote the product to very specific target audiences. In today’s economic climate retailers are considering ways of more effective advertising by targeting segmented customer groups, and this new product does exactly that. “The Tyre Fitment Finder is very versatile; already we are getting positive feedback from clients using it in business to business dealings with distributors offering stock surpluses to retailers via email marketing.”

Also released is an API to deliver the same information, to allow a distributor to incorporate into their own software for point of sale use. Offering a comprehensive range of flexible web solutions, designed to suit any business, regardless of size or technical status on a subscription or pay per click basis.

40 days to go – is the tyre industry prepared for EC1222/2009?

22. September 2012

With 40 days until the EU tyre labelling legislation becomes mandatory, independent wheel and tyre data suppliers DriveRight report an influx of enquiries from all over Europe for labelling information via their EC1222.com website.

When the EC1222/2009 legislation was announced, DriveRight foresaw a need for an independent supplier of label information. The company, with its 12 years of experience in the tyre industry, obtained the data of 91 major manufacturers and launched EC1222.com as an independent entity.

DriveRight director Richard Bailey says “Since we promoted the launch of the live database at the end of July, we have seen an exponential increase in enquiry. We expected to see manufacturers seeking information as awareness increased, yet the recent surge in enquiry does indicate a large section of the industry is leaving implementation of a solution to the 11th hour.

“The queries we are getting is along the lines of ‘what can we get, how can we get it and how soon?’. We are finding this has been driven by increased publicity of the mandatory date for legislation and from companies about to launch their winter tyre programmes who have decided to integrate labelling at the same time. “Judging by our website analytics people are still trying to find sources of label information as the realisation that they must act now sets in. We have customers approaching us from not only the UK but France, Italy, Spain, Turkey and Germany. “Since we have tyre manufacturer data, we are in a position to service the late starters. We can supply the data instantly via an API, so integration into a website is easily implemented.

“Time is running out, but we believe we have the right product to offer those who have not yet decided upon a solution to comply with the demands of EC1222/2009.”

DriveRight’s expansion into Europe

07. September 2012

Flying in the face of a global recession DriveRight, an independent provider of wheel and tyre fitment data, has experienced positive growth within the European Union over the past two years and cites the fast-approaching introduction of tyre labelling legislation as a contributing factor.

DriveRight established a database of vehicle fitments in 1995 and offered online data to manufacturers and retailers throughout Europe. The number of tyre fitments in DriveRight’s database expanded from 31,000 chassis fitments in March 2010 to currently over 40,000.

DriveRight’s diverse product range required dedicated support so the company established firm footings within the EU, expanding their UK operation into France and the Netherlands by appointing agents as distributors of DriveRight products. The German automotive market was catered for by the establishment of DriveRight GmbH in Berlin.

Director Richard Bailey said the growth experienced in the EU has exceeded expectations, “On the back of steady demand for vehicle fitment information, DriveRight has also seen an increase in enquiry for tyre labelling information. This prompted us to launch EC1222.com, which is dedicated to providing tyre label data as required by the new EU regulations, which come into effect in the next 2 months. With four entities across Europe servicing the wheel and tyre industry, we were able to immediately offer support for this new incentive.

“EC1222.com is essentially another product we have added to our portfolio. We now have live manufacturer data and we have an API to deploy it. The last factor was to provide support for European customers. Our agents across Europe have had extensive involvement in the automotive, wheel and tyre industries, so as we roll out more products we are confident of being able to offer a good depth of support.

“We are maintaining our independence in the marketplace, as a provider of data, not aligned to any particular brand, and EC1222.com adopts the same philosophy. It fills a need for tyre manufacturer data, and now we have this and the mechanism to deliver it, we can back it up with sales support.”

DriveRight’s a Member of TyreSafe

01. August 2012

DriveRight has become TyreSafe’s newest member and helped broaden the range of TyreSafe’s supporters.

The two organisations are by no means strangers as DriveRight already supplies the data which goes into TyreSafe’s hugely popular tyre pressure app and provides users with the correct tyre pressure for their vehicle simply by entering their registration number.

Stuart Jackson, chairman of TyreSafe said “the breadth of our membership keeps growing and most aspects of the automotive industry are represented, from car and tyre manufacturers, to insurance firms, retailers, emergency services, public organisations and specialist commercial businesses.

However, what they all have in common is a burning desire to raise the issues surrounding defective or illegal tyres and educate the motoring public about correct tyre maintenance. It’s a testament to all of them that they are so willing and passionate about making the roads a safer place to be”.

Since its inception in 2006, TyreSafe’s activities have helped reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured in a tyre related incident by 38%.

As a member of TyreSafe, DriveRight will benefit from early campaign awareness and can integrate this within marketing activities.

DriveRight works closely with TyreSafe on its tyre pressure app and know first hand the dedication and enthusiasm of everyone involved in the organisation in spreading the road safety message.

It is with great pleasure DriveRight have become a member of TyreSafe and look forward to being involved in future campaigns and making UK’s roads safer.

EC1222.com Launches Live Tyre Manufacturer Data

With new tyre labelling legislation coming into effect in less than 3 months, EC1222.com announced the launch of its tyre labelling database, now with live manufacturer tyre data.

EC1222.com is a subsidiary company of DriveRight, independent supplier of wheel and tyre fitment data to the automotive industry. The company is not aligned to any manufacturer or brand of wheel or tyre product and have applied the same business model to EC1222.com, providing a neutral supplier of label data to the industry.

Richard Bailey of DriveRight says the company is ideally poised to supply and has sourced tyre manufacturer data in anticipation of the EC1222/2009 legislation. “DriveRight has a long association with the major manufacturers in the industry. We have been supplying fitment data for 12 years; being independent is what gives us the flexibility to evolve our products based on client’s needs. We anticipated that sourcing tyre label information from manufacturers would be challenging and there would be a requirement for an entity to not only source the data but distribute it.

DriveRight, a European company, in addition to our UK office we now has an office in Germany and agencies in the Netherlands and France, so we are strategically positioned to support the industry through this period of change.

There is a lot of information available from the various associations within the tyre industry, so we think manufacturers and retailers are well informed of the requirements of the industry, our objective is to now help them take the next step of fulfilling their obligations by providing a single source of data, as quickly and reliably as possible”.

EC1222.com introduced the labelling solution in 2011 promoting data and actual electronic label distribution and has been involved with the manufacturing industry to provide a single source of all tyre information.

With legislation restricting the release of manufacturer data before 1st June, the company prepared a ‘no hooks’ subscription. It has released what they claim to be a simple and effective solution, an API that provides continually updated data for integration into web projects.

Richard says “We don’t promote any complex software solution, or tie users into long-term plans. We have made it simple; we focus on providing accurate data delivered via an easy-to-use method.

Delivering via an API allows us to update the information supplied in real time, and react quickly as we receive manufacturer updates. Our focus is on the maintenance and delivery of the data, rather than complex software packages”.

Tyre Labelling Solution – EC1222.com

01. February 2012

On 1 November 2012 new tyre labelling legislation becomes mandatory and many retailers are now confronted with the stark realisation that they will need an effective solution before then.

DriveRight recognised the integration of the required information into current operational systems would not be simple for the industry and formed the independent body EC1222.com. The objective is to provide a seamless system to supply labels to all factions within the tyre retailing and manufacturing industry.

Since our last newsletter introducing EC1222.com DriveRight has seen an increased number of enquiries from manufacturers and retailers regarding our solution to the new legislation.

We have commitment from several major manufacturers to supply our site with their data however, by law they are unable to release this until June 2012. In the interim we have populated the site with sample data.

If you would like a trial access to the site and label generator, please contact us by email ec1222@tyrefit.net or visit EC1222.com.

German Market Expansion

DriveRight, independent global providers of wheel and tyre fitment data have established an office in Germany.

With offices in the United Kingdom and New Zealand, DriveRight is renowned for its database of over 37,000 vehicle OE and upstep wheel and tyre fitments and saw Germany as a natural progression. DriveRight Deutschland GmbH was formed to provide specialist B2B data and e-commerce solutions for integration within the automotive industry.

DriveRight de GmbH managing director Sacha Hold said establishing an office in Germany was essential for the business. “DriveRight has been successfully trading in Europe for many years, yet we recognised it was important to align DriveRight fitment data with German market-specific

vehicle information. The German automotive industry is a significant component of the DAX and now with many of the world’s leading automotive brands produced here, it was vital the company established a local presence that understands the needs of their market and can keep pace with the growth”.

The new company has successfully mapped wheel and tyre fitments to KBA, HSN-TSN and Ktype vehicle specifications resulting in rich vehicle data. The company will also offer a caliper profile service to wheel manufacturers and have the capability to map to TUV certification.

DriveRight now Mapping to TecDoc K Type

For 16 years, TecDoc has been offering an electronic information system for parts identification for passenger cars and commercial vehicles within the global automotive industry.

DriveRight has worked closely with TecDoc to append wheel and tyre information to TecDoc vehicle classifications. This gives DriveRight the ability to provide fitment information for country specific vehicles at trim level with the correct language and integrate with existing K Type driven vehicle classification.

EU Tyre Labelling Solution

In November 2012, new EU tyre labelling regulations (EC 1222/2009) will come into effect and standardise the information presented to the consumer of three critical factors that may influence a buying decision.

These factors will include ratings for fuel efficiency, wet grip and external rolling noise (as pictured below). The ratings assigned to tyres will allow the consumer to make an informed decision.

DriveRight recognised the integration of this information into current operational systems would not be simple for the industry and formed EC1222.com as an independent body to provide a seamless system to provide labels to all factions within the tyre retailing and manufacturing industry.

EC1222.com provides a system to integrate product lists with required tyre labelling information and deliver electronic copies of labels in a variety of methods to cater the various key segments within the industry.

The system is flexible and provides a solution for label supply regardless of size of business, or depth of IT infrastructure. The objective is to provide solutions for manufacturers and distributors requiring bulk supply of labels or owner / operator business requiring one-off, or intermittent label supply.

Additions to TyreFit Database

The TyreFit database is continually updated with new models added on a monthly basis.

The number of individual chassis fitments has now grown to over 37,000.

Aside from adding new models, we also refine existing entries with additional model variants and upstep information.

The latest additions include the following:

  •     Land Rover Evoque
  •     Mini Coupe
  •     Chysler Ypsilon

Delivering Tyre Manufacturer Data to the Market

20. April 2011

As the wheel and tyre industry adopts European tyre labelling legislation, independent data providers DriveRight have seen a new stream of enquiries from tyre manufacturers and distributors.

Director Richard Bailey explains, “The question from the industry was where do we get label information? We have communicated via our EC1222.com website that we have manufacturer label information available; now the prevalent enquiry has become ‘how are we going to get it?

Being independent, not aligned to any manufacturer, our focus has been to position ourselves as a one-stop source of data, with a delivery mechanism that does not need any complex implementation method.

“We recognised from the outset that deployment had to be a simple solution, easily integrated into end user systems. Deploying the data via an API allows us to provide a live feed to manufacturer and distributor websites, while updating and adding product as it becomes available.

“We believe we have achieved that, a simple and effective solution, designed to work in conjunction with any existing client-side web-based system.

“A request to our server will provide the user with a list of available manufacturers. We have an API to provide the list of distinct tread patterns for each manufacturer, plus a further method to return all the sizes, load speed indices and EAN codes for each tread. We then provide a method to return all the data available for the EAN code. This includes the rolling resistance, wet grip and noise rating values for each tyre.

“Lastly, we provide a webservice that will return a URL for the label stored on our server in a choice of image format. Although each label is specific to each EAN code, we generated the electronic labels dynamically based on the performance attributes of each tyre.

“This negates the need to match to EAN or product code manually, ensuring accurate delivery of labels formatted exactly to the manufacturer’s wet grip, rolling resistance and noise values. This was paramount for us, the consumer needs reassurance that the label information is exactly as the manufacturer has specified.

“In our experience delivering data for dynamic web-interfaces via API has become a prerequisite for our global client base. As e-commerce sites embrace the benefits of using third party webservices to retrieve data, developers are becoming increasingly more proficient in integrating with the client’s product files. We believe our API can be integrated within hours, as opposed to days, which will take the pressure off those still wanting to implement a tyre labelling solution before 1st of November 2012”.
